When I think of the word plant I think of growth. Growth is an important attribute to have because it helps us become better people and once we have grown we are able to spread our seeds and help others. But do not let the seed become unimportant for we have to be planted and rooted firmly before we can grow. This verse calls us to go to places that are left untouched, unseeded and to plant there. To break up the ground that we keep hidden or are scared of so that we can become rooted in Christ. It also says we need to sow for ourselves. We have to be intentional about what we plant and when we plant ourselves in the Lord we weed out the bad and grow the good. We have to depend on the Lord and follow Him, we get our strength from Him not from ourselves. We would not survive without dirt, sunlight, rain, or seed which He provides. We have to grow with God and He will shower down His unfailing love for us so that we may continue to help others be planted in Him.
Dear Lord, thank you for providing the earth we plant ourselves in, sunlight, the seed, and rain. May we continue to find ways to grow closer to you. Amen.
Rachel Smith, 2019
Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground; for it is time to seek the Lord, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you.
Hosea 10:12
