Do you know someone who cooks without salt and pepper? My mother does because she finds it irksome when people dump it lavishly on their meal before tasting it. Admittedly I struggle to eat dishes without some extra spices, and I even crave salty snacks over sweet.

Salt can symbolize whatever the figurative ‘spice’ is in your life. Consider your passions, and what makes you unique- an essential puzzle piece to God’s plan that is anything but bland. Revel in the endless possibilities with God’s generous gift of life. Be the best you can be in gratitude of His blessings.

Reread this passage inserting ‘faith’ for ‘salt’. Mark’s message can also revive our everyday spirit. A Christian may believe in God, but it is easy to not be fully present in Him with life’s distractions. Have an earnest faith, resolving that God is behind all purpose, therefore finding comfort in the self.

Heavenly Father, thank you for inspiring us by Your good work, and help us to rejoice often and wholeheartedly in it.  Amen.

Salt is good; but if salt has lost its saltiness, how can you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.
