Did you know that in Fall 2023, over 15,000 students will begin college for the first time in our synod-sponsored campus ministry locations and nearly 4 million across the country? For many of them, it will be their first year away from their families and the familiar comfort of friends. What if, during their college years, they found a community of faith on campus that would affirm and care for them and help them to grow close to God as they discern their future?

Here at Lutheran Campus Ministry in Madison, it is our privilege to minister to students through worship, faith formation, and pastoral care. While their time with us is short, their experiences and the decisions they make during this time profoundly impact their futures.

All across our country, students are cared for by ELCA Campus Ministry sites at over 140 colleges and universities, including UW-Madison, UW-Platteville, and UW-Whitewater.

I am writing to ask for your help. As you know, campus ministry sites do not receive enrollment information from the schools we serve, which means the only way ELCA Campus Pastors and Ministers can reach out to your college students is if YOU provide us their information. Our Campus Connect Project makes this so easy! It’s just three steps:

1. You collect the names, contact information, and schools that your congregation’s college students are planning to attend this next school year.
2. You send that information to us in whatever way is easiest for you!
3. On your behalf, we share your students’ names and contact information with campus ministry staff at the school they attend.

When you participate, your students will be personally invited to participate in an ELCA Campus Ministry that will care for them, walk with them, and equip them during their college years and beyond.

We can’t do this without you! In this mailing, you will find a form you can fill out and return to LCM. If you prefer, you can submit this information online using the webform at www.luminelca.org/refer-a-student/, or email the completed form to info@lcmmadison.org. Please provide as much information as you can for all of your college students (not just incoming freshmen).
