For Students

What we want for you to know, more than anything else, is that you belong. The world constantly reminds us of what we are not. And life – especially life in a pandemic – has a tendency to make us feel alone. But you are a holy creation – made, loved, and claimed by God.

Which means you belong. Just as you are.

And the experience of belonging can give you freedom. Freedom to really be who you are. Freedom to really connect with others. Freedom to really dig into community, and make a difference in the world.

Join us at LCM as we explore what it means to belong to God, to one another, and to the world. You don’t have to be Lutheran — or any other faith — to join us. If you are a UW-Madison, Edgewood College, or any other post-secondary student, we are here for you. Click on any of the links below to find out details about how we’re living out God’s mission here in Madison and in the world.

Events for Students

These events are held during the UW Fall and Spring academic terms.

Coffee Break

Tuesdays 1 – 2:30pm
Join Pastor Emily or Vicar Alex and other students on Tuesday afternoons for coffee or tea, a sweet treat, and informal conversation.

Social Justice Lunch (returning fall 2023)

Wednesdays Noon – 1pm

Bring your own lunch each Wednesday and join in a conversation about where faith intersects with issues of justice and peace in our world. We gather upstairs at the Student Center upstairs in the Library.

Thursday Nights at LCM

Thursdays at 5:30pm
We gather for Evening Prayer every Thursday at 5:30pm, next door at Luther Memorial Church. This brief contemplative service includes music, scripture, and time for reflection and prayer. The music changes from season to season, and sometimes the service includes a short reflection from Pastor Emily or Vicar Alex. After worship, we share dinner and fellowship at the Student Center at about 6:00pm.

Schedule a 1:1 with LCM Pastor Emily or Vicar Alex!

Pastor Emily would be thrilled to grab coffee at LCM, go for a walk around campus, or meet virtually. Grab a spot on her calendar! Vicar Alex, our seminary intern, is new to LCM this fall and is looking forward to meeting you! Schedule a meeting to say hello!  Whether you’re new to LCM or have been around a while, schedule some time to chat with Pastor Emily or Vicar Alex!

Worship at Luther Memorial

Sundays 8:15am or 10:30am
We worship with Luther Memorial Church on Sundays at 8:15 or 10:30am. Luther Memorial, an intergenerational congregation founded by UW students in 1907, offers worship that reflects the richness of Christian tradition and music. Get more information at Luther Memorial website.
