For Students

What we want for you to know, more than anything else, is that you belong. The world constantly reminds us of what we are not. And life has a tendency to make us feel alone. But you are a holy creation — made, loved, and claimed by God.

Which means you belong. Just as you are.

And the experience of belonging can give you freedom. Freedom to really be who you are. Freedom to really connect with others. Freedom to really dig into community, and make a difference in the world.

Join us at LCM as we explore what it means to belong to God, to one another, and to the world. You don’t have to be Lutheran — or any other faith — to join us. If you are a UW-Madison, Edgewood College, Madison College, or any other post-secondary student, we are here for you. Click on any of the links below to find out details about how we’re living out God’s mission here in Madison and in the world.

Events for Students

These events are held during the UW Fall and Spring academic terms.

Coffee Break

Wednesdays 9:30am – 10:30am
Join Pastor Emily and other students on Wednesday mornings for coffee or tea, a sweet treat, and informal conversation.

Thursday Nights at LCM

Thursdays at 5:30pm
We gather for Evening Prayer every Thursday at 5:30pm, next door at Luther Memorial Church. This brief contemplative service includes music, scripture, and time for reflection and prayer. The music changes from season to season, and sometimes the service includes a short reflection from Pastor Emily. After worship, we share dinner and fellowship at the Student Center at about 6:00pm.

Fall Retreat at Holy Wisdom Monastery October 20 & 21

Join St. Francis House, LCM Madison, LECM Whitewater, and LCM Milwaukee for our Fall EcoSpirituality retreat! We’ll gather together at Holy Wisdom Monastery, about 30 minutes away from the UW-Madison campus. We’ll learn about their beautiful restored prairies and ponder together where we meet God in the natural world, and what ecosystems have to teach us about our relationship with God and others. Register here:

Newcomers Small Group!

This fall, all newcomer students are invited to join us for a small group discussion on Belovedness: Finding God (and self) on campus. LCM Student Leaders will lead the conversation and help you acclimate to faith and life in Madison. Register here:

Schedule a 1:1 with LCM Pastor Emily

Pastor Emily would be thrilled to grab coffee at LCM, go for a walk around campus, or meet virtually. Grab a spot on her calendar! Whether you’re new to LCM or have been around a while, schedule some time to chat!
